Time to Renew Your Membership
Spring is the best time to renew your League membership, although we accept new members and renewals anytime.
Your membership builds on a legacy that informed and active women started here in Murfreesboro and Rutherford County over 60 years ago, and at the state and national levels a century ago.
Your dues cover local, state, and national memberships. You can renew online or send us a check - see our Join page for both options. We now offer free memberships to students and reduced cost memberships to young advocates under 40.
Despite the pandemic, the 2020-2021 year was a busy one for the League, in which we have
hosted local candidate forums in Murfreesboro and La Vergne
produced an online voters guide for contested local elections
produced a virtual “Plan Your Vote” event
launched a “Community Conversations” series to foster small group discussions of current events, starting with racism and antiracism, through the lens of podcasts, articles, books, and other art forms
and offered online programs including
Rutherford County Election Commission Administrator Alan Farley
Felon Disfranchisement with Dr. Pippa Holloway
a Tennessee Legislative Update with Stewart Clifton
a virtual visit to the Tennessee Woman Suffrage Heritage Trail with Paula Casey
Elaine Weiss, author of The Woman’s Hour
Literacy, Literature, and Lifting Our Community with Read To Succeed
We’re starting to plan our 2021-2022 year (and welcome your input), but we already know our activities will include
a focus on the redistricting process now underway
reading and discussing this year’s One Book, Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You, by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi
voter registration efforts
and many other programs we’ll be planning this spring and summer.
We hope you’ll join us! Your support of the LWV and its mission to encourage informed participation in elections and government is deeply appreciated.
