Join Us in Reading STAMPED This Summer
This year's community One Book is Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You, by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi. Our League is encouraging members and the public alike to read the book this summer. We will be co-hosting an evening of discussion inspired by the book at Bradley Academy Museum and Cultural Center on Tuesday evening, September 14. This event will be open to the public.
Update: Due to the current high spread of Covid-19 in our area, this event will now be on Zoom. More details will be posted at this link soon.
The One Book program is an initiative of Read To Succeed to support community reading and unity.
Copies of the 2021 One Book can be found around town at “Book Crossing” locations, marked by a red Read To Succeed box. Locations include Just Love Coffee East, Simply Pure Sweets, the Technology Engagement Center, Bradley Academy Museum, and all branches of the Rutherford County Library System.
You might also enjoy this OnBeing interview with author Jason Reynolds, in which he suggests antiracism is “simply the muscle that says humans are human… I love you, because you remind me more of myself than not.”
The book, which is aimed at readers age 12 and up, has been named a

Many people have recommended to us the audio version of Stamped, which is read by Reynolds. Additionally, a kid’s version for ages 6-10 is available as well.
