It’s Election Season: What’s Your Voting Plan?

The August 6 election will soon be upon us. This election includes party primaries and general elections for the City of Murfreesboro and various Rutherford County offices. Early voting runs July 17-August 1. Presently, absentee ballots can be requested for those who do not want to vote in person due to Covid-19. For complete information, see election.rutherfordcountytn.gov.

Covid-19 is also impacting how the League informs voters this election cycle.

For this cycle, we will not be having forums for contested Rutherford County elections. We are, instead, producing a Voter Guide that we'll be sharing with our email list and on social media in early July.

Update: Voter Guide now available

Our forum for the City of Murfreesboro will continue with slight modifications. All four Murfreesboro City Council candidates will be participating in a live forum on Tuesday, July 7. While the forum will follow our usual format, it will NOT be open to the public. Instead, we hope you'll watch it live on City TV or stream on YouTube or through other platforms. We'll send out a full list of ways to watch closer to time.

Update: View the recorded forum here on YouTube, or catch a rebroadcast on Murfreesboro CityTV

In the meantime, you can help in a couple of ways:

  • We want your questions for these candidates! Please reply email us with suggestions, realizing that each candidate must answer the same questions. We put all questions into a bank for the moderator to choose that evening.

  • Help us get the word out and encourage more questions by sharing this post on Facebook.

Due to a court ruling, anyone with Covid-19 concerns can apply for an absentee ballot. Be sure to carefully follow Election Commission deadlines. Get more information and see a sample ballot at election.rutherfordcountytn.gov.
