The League of Women Voters (LWV) of Murfreesboro/Rutherford County and co-sponsors Middle Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women (MTLAW) and Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (DST), Inc. will be holding a Town of Smyrna Council Election Candidate Forum on October 15, 2024.

Candidates for the Town of Smyrna open council seats will have an opportunity to introduce themselves and respond to a moderator's questions on a timed basis at one forum being held on the evening of Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

The forums will be hosted in cooperation with the Town of Smyrna television station that is available on Comcast Channel 3 and U-verse Channel 99, also Facebook and YouTube channels. The public is invited to attend in person or watch live.

The forum will begin at 6PM and end no later than 7:30PM and will be held at the Town of Smyrna Town Hall Council Chambers located at 315 Lowry Street.

The public should be seated 10 minutes prior to the start time. There will be no admittance once each forum is underway.

To assure an impartial and welcoming environment for all candidates, no campaign materials (t-shirts, buttons, signs, etc.) are allowed. 

A question pool is developed by the co-sponsors with some citizen input. You may submit suggested questions to the League at lwvrutherford@gmail.com. The moderator is not publicly aligned with any candidate and makes the final determination of questions.

All questions cannot be used due to time restrictions, but your input is helpful to the moderator in identifying topics of high interest and selecting the final questions from our question bank.
